Change in Domain Authority
This alert monitors the Domain Authority of your site as a whole. Domain Authority was developed by Moz, and gives a normalized (logarithmically-scaled) sum of the rankings factors identified on all internal pages in the paid-level domain of the source URL, and external links pointing to the site (Moz Documentation). Changes in Domain Authority are generally associated with an increase or decrease in the overall health of your site.
Increase in Domain Authority
An increase in the Domain Authority from the rankings factors found on all internal pages in the paid-level domain of the source URL and external links indicates that you are witnessing an improvement in your site health. This is a good indicator that your site is earning valuable authority, and will contribute to higher rankings.
Decrease in MozRank for All Pages in the Paid Level Domain
An decrease in the Domain Authority from the rankings factors found on all internal pages in the paid-level domain of the source URL and external links indicates that you are witnessing an improvement in your site health. This is a good indicator that your site is loosing valuable authority, and will contribute to worse rankings.
Let’s hope you have recently updated the internal links to your site to improve usability and have added to relevant content to your site, garnered new authoritative links to your site, and that you see this number on a steady upward trend. It is important to note that Moz can trigger false positives for this alert if there was a recent index update on their end, which would have an impact on the Domain Authority of all sites in their index. If you see a big jump or drop, you should check to see if Moz updated their index before freaking out!
